Tic Tac Toe

Easter is just a few weeks away now, and we wanted to celebrate by releasing a new Easter Tic Tac Toe-themed printable board game!

This Easter tic tac toe game is similar in setup to the other tic tac toe games that we have released previously for other holidays. It contains a tic tac toe grid, seven Easter-themed playable characters, and instructions for how to use the game.

How Is Tic Tac Toe Played

Tic tac toe is played with just two players. In traditional tic tac toe games, each player would usually use an “X” or an “O”.

The game board is usually a 3 by 3 grid drawn on paper that looks like a “pound” or “hashtag” symbol. The play of the game begins with one player placing a character in one of the empty grid squares. Each player alternates taking turns until one player has lined up three of their players in a row, either vertically horizontally, or diagonally.

Tic tac toe is simple to play and to come up with a strategy. This makes the game well suited for younger children to play.

In our version of tic tac toe, you have more character choices to choose from rather than the standard “X’s” and “O’s”.

Benefits of playing games

Game playing has shown many benefits, including:

  • Playing games is great for a child’s cognitive development.
  • Gameplay helps promote spending time with siblings or parents.
  • Games help to promote the following of rules.
  • Gives kids a chance to win and lose the game. This can be a good teaching opportunity to teach children about good sportsmanship.
  • Helps children develop their strategy and planning.
  • Can help kids develop problem-solving abilities.
  • Playing games teaches kids to take turns and need to wait for their next turn.

Different Ways To Use This Tic Tac Toe Game Set

In addition to using this free Easter tic tac toe game to play with, you could also re-purpose the set and game pieces for other fun activities.

  • You can use them to create a fun memory matching game. Simply use two of each character player and mix them up and turn them over not facing your child. Have them turn one player piece over and then the second one in a different area. If they match, then continue overturning pieces until all have been correctly matched. If they don’t match then play moves to player 2 to try and match a set of pieces.
  • These player pieces could also be used to make a fun sorting game where your child sorts each player piece into the correct set.
  • Your child could arrange the player pieces in fun and different patterns.
  • Have your child sort the player pieces in alphabetical order.
  • Print out multiple character pieces and glue them to popsicle sticks to create fun puppets.
