Mom Money Kids believes that a person’s right to vote is essential and to teach our child what it means to vote. We created this custom printable in order to allow our son to experience what it would be like to actually vote in an election, even though he is not of age. This printable has an “I Voted Badge”, ballot box sign, a vote pennant to cut out, and a ballot.

How To Set Up Your Mock Election Office
- The first thing to do is to print the file and cut out all four of the pennants.
- We then used a red ribbon and some clear tape to attach each of the four pennants and spell out VOTE. The ribbon was then taped to the table.
- Next, take the ballot box and tape to a small cardboard box, and cut a slit into the top for placing the ballot. We found that using a medium flat rate USPS box worked really well as it matched our printable design well.
- We used a large white trifold cardboard display as the privacy partition for voting and placed the cover page on it.
- We then cut out the individual ballot.
- Then we cut out the I Voted Pins
- You will also need a marker and some tape for marking the ballot and taping the badge
Having Your Child Vote
We first explained some simple rules on the process of casting a vote and how to fill out the ballot. This is a mock or pretends election, so we used animals as the candidates on the ballot, which was fun for our son. He made his choice using a paint marker and then placed his ballot inside the ballot box. After he had cast his ballot we gave him his “I Voted” badge that he could wear by placing some tape on the back of the badge.
Overall, this was a super simple and fun activity that we got to share with our son. Let us know in the comments what you thought about this project or how you ended up using it for your children!
