Best Halloween Costume Step One: The first thing you will need to do is make a decision. Decide if you are going to have a custom name tag made like the In-N-Out workers have, make your own custom iron-on name badge, or print out a custom name badge with a printer on heavy cardstock.
For this DIY Halloween costume build, we decided to have a custom iron-on name badge made. Then we ironed it onto the white dress shirt. We only used the white toddler dress shirt for this costume only.

To make the In-N-Out name badge, you can do a google search and find the blank image for their name badges. Then simply use a photo editing software like Canva, to edit your child’s name onto the image.

You can click the learn more about Canva design image above to use Canva for free online. They offer a pro version of Canva that gives you more pro images and abilities, but you can absolutely just use the free version to make your name tags.
Then you can either print it out on good quality cardstock and attach it to a pin or you can print it onto transfer paper and then do an iron-on transfer to the white shirt.
Best Halloween Costume Step Two: You’re going to need to acquire an In-N-Out paper worker hat or make your own paper hat. You can also simply get a red baseball hat and use that as your cap.
For our son’s In-N-Out Halloween costume we visited our local In-N-Out and asked them if we could purchase a paper hat, but to our surprise, they were super nice and just gave us the hat!
Best Halloween Costume Step Three: This step is optional but we went ahead and purchased a genuine red restaurant tray from the In-N-Out website. You don’t need to do this for your In-N-Out Halloween costume but we did it for our son’s.
