Winter Popsicle Stick Snowman DIY Toddler Craft Project

We hope that you had an amazing Christmas holiday filled with family and plenty of fun! Now that the holidays are almost done, we are turning our attention to New Year’s Day and the Winter season.

Today’s toddler craft is a really cute winter DIY snowman using popsicle sticks! This project was very simple and fun for our son. After we had finished this craft, we added a ribbon loop to the top to make it into a Christmas tree ornament.

Materials needed for the popsicle stick snowman

  • You will need seven (7) thin popsicle sticks.
  • Some white and black paint. We used acrylic paint for this project.
  • A small piece of red, orange, and green felt or construction paper.
  • A black sharpie
  • Glue – We used super glue for this project but you could also use a glue stick gun or white school glue.
  • String or ribbon to create the loop to hang your snowman.
  • A set of googly eyes

Assembling the snowman craft

  1. The first thing to do is to lay (6) six of the thin popsicle sticks side by side. You will then glue the last popsicle stick towards the top, spaced evenly.
  2. At this point, it would be a good idea to paint the face of the snowman white and the hat portion of the snowman black. Trust me, we didn’t do this till later and it would have been much easier to paint without the other face details on it. Snowman popsicle stick toddler crafts
  3. You will then cut out a triangle from the orange felt or construction paper for the snowman’s nose and glue it on his face.
  4. Then cut a thin strip of red construction paper or felt and glue it at the brim of the snowman’s hat.
  5. Cut a small red semi-circle piece to represent the tongue and glue below the nose area. You can then draw the mouth using the black sharpie pen.
  6. You will then need to cut out (2) two small green leaves to glue at the brim of the hat to represent the holly.
  7. The last thing we need to do is cut a small section of string or ribbon to glue to the back of the snowman hat section.
  8. That’s it! You now have a super cute snowman tree ornament or a winter craft your kids can play with.
