Winter Wonderland Toddler Sensory Table Play Activity
Winter Sensory Bin Ideas
Sensory play is a fantastic activity for young children to develop cognitive brain pathways. It also helps kids develop their imagination and problem-solving skills.
We created a fun winter Wonderland-themed sensory table environment for our son to play and have fun!
The table that we used for this sensory project was from Ikea called Flisat. The table has two large cut-out openings that can be filled with a large bin or two small bins in each opening.
The bins were filled with fake snow as the bulk of this sensory table bin.
We added winter-themed rubber duckies, winter polar bears, winter penguins, green pine trees, wooden scoopers, felt snowflakes, and other assorted pom poms.
The items were sourced from Oriental Trading, Hobby Lobby, Walmart, and Dollar Tree.
Making Your Own Fake Snow
For this sensory table project, we used fake snow that was sourced from Christmas holiday decor sold at Walmart used for miniature train sets and small-town sets. However, if you have any spare white t-shirt plastic bags on hand, you can make your own fake snow.
It is somewhat time-consuming, but you would simply cut up the plastic bags into smaller pieces. Again, this is a little time-consuming but it does work and it allows you to make use of spare plastic bags that might collect from the grocery store.
More Ideas For Winter Sensory Table Play
Another fun idea for your sensory table project could be to add water into the sensory bin and a little bit of blue food color to make it look like the blue ocean.
You could then have your children play with rubber duckies or penguins in the water. Our son enjoys playing with rubber duckies in the water!
Hope you enjoyed this sensory table play idea! Let us know down in the comments what you think and how you incorporate sensory play into your homeschooling routine.
